Christian Education Assistant

Responsible to: Christian Education Coordinator
Responsible for: Assisting with nursery care (ages 0-4), and Sunday school teaching and support (ages 4-15)
Goal: To support the faith development of our youngest and the faith journey of our children and youth. The
Christian education assistant will either) oversee the care of infants and children in the nursery during Sunday
worship, or 2) teach or support Sunday school.


• provide safe Sunday morning nursery care for infants to age 4
• Sunday school teaching and support for children ages 4-15
• arrive by 10:00 am each Sunday to prepare space and activities using provided curriculum
• welcome families before worship and meet with families during coffee hour following worship
• work alongside nursery and Sunday school volunteers
• additional hours maybe available on an as-needed basis

Required Qualifications:

• love of children and gift of teaching
• patience and sensitivity to the needs of children
• excellent interpersonal skills and compassions for small children
• child care experience
• demonstrated teaching experience
• organization skills, ability to maintain confidentiality
• police record check (or willingness to complete)
• commitment to values and vision of Rosedale Presbyterian Church

Preferred Experience and/or Qualifications

• Summer camp leadership training/staff
• Early Childhood Education (completed or in progress)
• Teaching certificate (completed or in progress)
• First aid & CPR

Schedule and commitment: Sunday mornings from 10-12pm; Jan-Dec, closed in July
Availability: This part time position (2 hrs/wk) is available immediately

• Salary: $20-25/hour depending on experience & qualifications
