Just a few things to

"Know Before You Go"

Here are some useful tips along with helpful information specifically for those individuals who are new to Rosedale Presbyterian Church and may be attending a service for the very first time.

  • Christianity teaches that we cannot be good enough on our own, as we all fall short in various ways. If you are seeking support, encouragement, and guidance in your spiritual journey, we invite you to join us at RPC. Here, we wholeheartedly proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and take the time to celebrate God's Word and sacraments with one another in fellowship.

  • You are our valued guest here at Rosedale Presbyterian Church, and you are not expected to give any money during your visit. While each service does include a voluntary offering, where you can choose to contribute to the work and mission of the church, please know that nobody will be upset or even notice if you decide not to give. Your presence is what truly matters to us, and we are grateful for your participation.

  • Our Coffee Hour takes place right after the Sunday worship service concludes. It provides a wonderful opportunity to meet and connect with both members of our church community and fellow visitors who are joining us for the day.

Just remember: Church is not merely a building. The building serves as a place where we gather and meet, but a church is fundamentally a vibrant community of people who seek to support and uplift one another in various ways. It’s not solely about adhering to rules – Christianity transcends the concept of following rigid guidelines and is primarily centered around nurturing relationships with God and our fellow humans. In this journey, the presence of Jesus is here to guide us all through the complexities and joys of life, providing wisdom and comfort along the way.

  • YES! We are guided by the teachings of Jesus which emphasize love, acceptance, justice and equality for all people. According to our Statement of Inclusion, "Rosedale Presbyterian Church welcomes and fully includes people of all ages, ethnicities, nationalities, physical & developmental disabilities, sexual orientations and gender identities in our community of worship.

  • We are a congregation of The Presbyterian Church in Canada (PCC).

  • We are located at 129 Mount Pleasant Road, in the heart of Toronto, Ontario. Our facility is easily accessible by foot for those who enjoy walking, as well as by car for those who prefer to drive. Additionally, public transportation options are conveniently available nearby. The TTC subway stations are just minutes away, with Line 1 accessible from Rosedale Station and Line 2 from Sherbourne Station, making visits to our church both simple and efficient for everyone.

  • Nowadays, not everyone dresses up specifically for church services—rather, it’s perfectly acceptable to simply wear what you feel comfortable in. The emphasis is more on your presence and the spirit of worship than on the clothes you wear.

  • Most churches typically have some common features that include a variety of elements such as announcements, congregational hymns, a sermon that lasts about 15 minutes, the collection of an offering, and a time dedicated to prayers. Just follow the general flow of the service, and you will be just fine. However, if you prefer to plan ahead for your Sunday experience, you can always find the order of service for the upcoming Sunday posted here each Friday.

  • Congregations come together to sing songs as a meaningful way of expressing their deep love and devotion for God. No one else is looking at you—feel free to join in if you want to or simply listen to the beautiful voices of our talented choir accompanied by the resonant sound of the organ. In the order of service, you will see the hymn numbers listed, which can be found in the blue book titled The Book of Praise, conveniently located in the pew rack for your reference.

  • We do have limited street parking available on the church side of the South Drive for your convenience. Additionally, you can easily find parking spots located on the west side of Scarth Road, which is only about a one-minute walk to the church entrance. This makes it quite accessible for all our visitors and congregation members.

Also, we do have ramps, automatic doors, and accessible washrooms available at our facilities, ensuring that everyone can enter and navigate with ease and comfort. Our commitment to accessibility means that we continuously strive to create an environment that welcomes all individuals, regardless of their mobility needs.

  • Yes! Sunday School classes are held for children from ages 4 through Grade 8 during the church service each Sunday morning. This provides a wonderful opportunity for young ones to engage in learning about their faith in a supportive environment.
