The Rev. Daniel W. Cho

“As people of faith, there’s a degree of responsibility that we have and involvement that we should have
for the sake of equity and justice,
particularly for those who are at the margins of society.

I believe it’s the church’s responsibility to provide protection and a voice for those who don’t have a voice.”

- Profile excerpt from Let's Talk magazine, a publication of the Correctional Service of Canada.

Since arriving at Rosedale Presbyterian Church in the summer of 2022, Daniel has been enjoying engaging in ministry here, and growing and learning together in and with the congregation. He considers it a deep privilege to walk alongside people in their faith journey to discover the calling of God upon our lives and to serve passionately proclaiming God’s love and justice to the community and world. He has served the church both in the United States and Canada and has ministered to people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds. Daniel's background is in religion and philosophy; his theological education has been ecumenically shaped having studied with Jesuits, Rabbis, Lutherans, Anglicans, and of course, Presbyterians at Knox College, University of Toronto. He continued postgraduate studies in the US and Europe in the areas of psychology (Tilburg, Princeton), law (London, U of T Law) and political theory (Harvard).

Throughout his ministry Daniel has been active in the civic arena as well as in the national church. He serves on several advisory boards including the Correctional Service of Canada, Justice Ministries Advisory Committee of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, the National Muslim-Christian Liaison Committee, and Citizens for Public Justice (Ottawa). He was blessed to have known the late spiritual writer, Henri Nouwen, who has had a deep and lasting impact on his life and ministry, and briefly served as a mentor; Daniel is currently the Chair of the Henri Nouwen Society. During 2018-2019 he was honoured to serve as Moderator of the 144th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Since childhood Daniel has been involved in the martial arts, and is an avid fan(atic) of all things Star Trek. He and his wife, Esther, are parents of 3 adult children.
